    Default clay

Does claying remove the swirl marks, or can they only be removed with "polishing"
    Cheers Ed

Don,t feel silly, never be afraid to ask any questions [however stupid you may think they are,you will never learn if you don,t ask] no one will shout at you.
Well bear in mind I am no expert, but still learning myself, hence the questions.I will try and expain claying, someone who knows how to do it properly will soon correct me I hope.Clay is a sort of "clay like" bar[it is not acctuall clay], you rub the clay bar over the cars paint, lubricating it with a special lubricator[though I belive you can use car shampoo] the clay then lifts the contamination "ie" tree sap, tar, etc and any other contaminants from of the car paint, by folding the clay from time to time will prolong the use of the clay.
I hope I have given you an idea what it is,but as you can see from my thread I am still learning about what claying will do.

From what I understand from www.detailingworld.co.uk a clay bar is by far the best product for removing swirls.

Topline - clay is usually like a bar (what can be described as putty) that you rub over your paintwork using the lubricant provided in the kit. It removes all sorts of contaminates that are dulling your paintwork. you do need to add a polish and a wax afterwards though. Best to set a whole day aside for it as well.

    Hi Alex
So it would be best to clay the car before I give it the full works,
    Megs cleaner wax
    Megs NXT tech wax
    Megs paint sealent
    P21s canuba wax
Looks like a good days work though.

Defo mate. A clay bar will take all your polish off.

If I'm really going to town I -

    1. Wash and dry
    2. Clay
    3. Cleaner
    4. Polish
    5. Sealer
    6. Wax

Looks like i will be busy for a while, mind you i suppose i could do the full works a bit at a time [say the roof bonnet and front wings] one weekend, then the doors and tail gate the next, that way
i would be able to take my time and do a better job of it.
