    Default Timing chain & Oil Filter

    Was talking to mechanic at a vauxhall dealer today and happened to get onto the subject of the timing chain issues (on Z22SE)and I mentioned about the oil jet side of things and he did say that a revised jet was fitted with larger nozzle which I knew about , but however what he did say was that a lot of the problem was not so much the Jet but the oil filters breaking up as they of paper type and this was causing restriction of oil flow, which kind of makes sense, so probably the moral of the story is to keep a check on these filters!!

    Same filters are on other cars mate and they dont have the problem. The difference in size of the old and new jet is massive and the older type jet has been found in the Vectra C 2.2 as well. Never trust VX when it comes to the Jet.

    This is where you enter the world of should I flush or not.

    I personally would flush if the car has done less than 30k regardless of if it's ever been done before, after that it's a bit hit and miss as to whether you could start pulling sludge into the oilways.
