    Hmmm...

Taking detailing advice from anyone who works for a dealer is probably a bad idea! Turtle wax is OK - it's cheap and won't last very long, and is a PITA to apply by all accounts, but it won't do any harm.

No idea for you silver strips, I'm afraid - it sounds as if water has penetrated the seal and is causing the damage inside. Might be an idea to see if you can get them as separate parts and just replace them?

They will polish out mate. AG SRP, Megs NXT or Scratch X will do the trick or even better Megs NXT for off the shelf stuff. Mine were like that when I bought the car, now there sorted.

I originally did it with the NXT Wax but the chrome polish should do the trick. Anything with mild abrasives really.

There are no abrasives in NXT wax.

Most important is to get some masking tape (not the cheap stuff or you will end up trying to remove the glue after) and mask the paintwork off before you try polishing the clear coated chrome strips. I wouldn't use the metal polysh myself as it is a little to abrasive I think.

Before just hitting it with a product you should try to find out what is the problem, the images show it looks like the clear coat has lifted from the chrome, that can't be repaired, if you soak the area then water will get under you should be able to press the areas and see the water moving around if this is the case.

If polishing will fix it then water wont get under and the marks are on the surface so have a go with something like megs deep crystal step 1 paint cleaner then if that doesn't work try scratch X. don't forget to mask the black plastic and rubber bits or you will get product in the grain and it can be a ****** to shift.
