Default Nokia 6300 Gallery Access Problem-HELP

    Hi,

My brother has a Nokia 6300 and since yesterday he is getting problem when accessing his Gallery and general use of the phone.

When going into gallery and sometimes generally using it either hangs or simply crashes then goes back as if you have just switched it on.

Sometimes it just keeps the processing bar on full and then crashes.

    Have also had this message:
    - message memory not ready;

Anyone comes across this problem or similar? Help would be appreciated. Any quick fixes?

    Thanks in adv!

    Default Nokia

    Ey up mate,

Lookin at your symptons, it's defo a software issue.

The nokia website will have a software update available, just be aware if an update is done the phone will go back to how it was when bought with nothing on it, take the memory card out first.

    Good luck

    Dal

It will only go back to standard if you don't do a back up first

I've upgraded the software on my N73 the other day, make sure you back up all files using Nokia PC suite first.
Also, as per instructions during software download, don't use the phone or disconnect any cables. If you do, it can crash the phone & you will have to send it away to be sorted.

Once the software was upgraded, all I had to do was copy the backed up details back using PC suite. Didn't lose any contacts or settings

    Go on here:

Or on here, type in phone's product code & it will tell you the latest software version available.

Managed to download the updater and run the application, but whenever it gets to 15%, it stops and says connection to phone lost, RETRY, keeps doing this and will not allow the update to go on.

Why is it doing this and what can I do get the update on there?

Loads of threads around on the problems with updating the 6300. I finally got mine to update the other day, but it took a lot of attempts.
Mine sometimes hangs when accessing the SD card, but eventually gets there. I'd try another card if you can get one.
My update finally worked after downloading a new version of the Noia Software updater, so make sure yours is the latest.

    Phil
