    Default wirless router help

I'm going to buy and new laptop for the wife today.
She wants to use it wireless.
The BT hub I've got is not wireless and they want 50 quid for a wireless one. I think thats a bit expensive.
Can i just buy a wireless box from PC world and exchange the one I've got now ??????????
I don't have a clue about this stuff so any help is appreciated.

If your with BT then you would need to replace the box with a ADSL Wireless Router, as im not aware of any wireless boxes that could use the current USB interface i am assuming you are using. Cost wise it will probably still be around the £50 mark, although you could pick up an older one off of ebay, typically the main selling points of the newer ones are that they offer faster connectivity between wireless devices connected to the same box, and in my opinion most people dont need this faster connectivity.

I can send you links to some boxes that would work if it helps?

I got a linksys hub and wireless router.

Basically, I unplugged the network cable from the back of the desktop (that goes to the VM internet box), and plugged it into the 'in' of the router. Then another wire from one of the outlet seckots goes to the desktop, and another goes upstairs for a hardwired connection. The laptop can also run off the wireless.

Well a bit of a result really. Got the wife to call BT and tell them we are looking at moveing to the post office for the tinterweb.
"We will send you a free wireless router out for wednesday next week and knock £5 a month off your bill for 12 month".
Twist the truth and see what it get's.
