Tim Shallcross from the Institute of Advanced Motorists says manoeuvring a car when you arrive and the engine is warm is more efficient and saves fuel.
When you arrive i presume your engine was running to get you there so the engine would be be warm Drivers are urged to park facing the right way out and avoid the need for reversings and turns when setting off.
He obviously doesn't know i have a very expensive Irmscher front lower skirt i don't want to smash to bit's on a curb

I'm thinking i can reverse into a space and get out of a space in the same amount of movements i would take if going in forward and reversing out of it

Go back to sleep Tim nice but Dim. LOL

What he is saying is that manoevring when the engine is warm (ie when you arrive) uses less fuel than when it is cold. Yes, stands to reason. I agree there would be a cost saving, but £100 is optimistic IMO.

Glen, if you have an expensive front skirt - then reversing into a bay reduces the chance of impacting it on the kerb.

Also, when you go shopping do you want to park nose in and have easy access to the boot for your bags, or do you want to reverse in and scrape these bags down the side of your car and the car next to you????

if i didnt think id get clamped or something then i would park in the middle of 4 bays so i didnt have idiots clouting me with their doors! Luckly i have kids so have an excuse to use the nice big parent bays
otherwise i go to the back of the carpark and park over two bays. I dont mind the walk if it saves me some dings.
