Default How to remove steering wheel controls

    for a 4 spoke (2003 model)?

The mechanic tells me that the switches on the steering wheel are defective. Can they be removed without removing the airbag? There seems to be a screw behind the steering wheel right under the controls on either side, but wanted to check before I try...

    hi m8
you will need to remove the airbag

    1-dissconect battery
    2-leave for 20-30mins
    3-get a flat screw driver
4-turn wheel so the hole is at the bottom
5-place srewdriver in and gentle pull towards you utill airbag clips release
6-turn wheel round again and do the other side.
    7-pull airbag off and disconnect.
    8-remove airbag holding plate
9-now remove torx screws at the back of wheel the hold the controls in place
10-very gentle pull the control from the wheel as these are held in tightly with lugs

that its m8 all done and it is easy trust me 5mins

When they say they are deffective, how?, are they not working at all?
Have you changed the head unit & not fitted a control adapter?
    That would stop them functioning

Was that a full or half canbus wheel m8? I'm hoping I won't need to take the airbag out to just change the switches...

Yep, definitely no need to remove the airbag. All you need to do is undo the screw on the back of the steering wheel that holds them in, then prise them out of the steering wheel.

It will be a half-CanBus Paul being an 03 - it'll have the three buttons either side. But it's the same principle for the scroll wheel controls too.
