Default You Need To Read This, Rear Brakes

Just been to Vauxhall with un-even rear pad wear and pad closes to the piston nearly down to metal and car has only 8000 miles on it.

Expecting to fight to get the pads changed under warrenty, the tech guy walked towards me and advises that he will be changing the pads discs and calipers under warrenty, I just about shat myself.

He told me (off the record) that he is changing at least 2 vectra c's rear brakes a week, vauxhall have had 1000s of failures on the calipers and rear brakes.

I sujest all members wih low miles get the back wheels of and have a good look at the pads, cause if they are wearing really fast or un-even they will be covered by warrenty.

The tech guy said that he brake pedal should also be applied first, then the handbrake. SO IF VAUXHALL ASKS, THIS IS HOW YOU APPLY THE HANDBRAKE.

If anyone needs more info drop me a telephone number and I will be happy to discuss further.

DONT PAY TO HAVE THEM REPLACED< HEY ARE COVERED UNDER WARRENTY.

    Hope this helps

heh, mine were knackered by about 16k, luckily its a lease car so they just paid for the pads to be changed, wonder how long it'll take for this set to wear down.

    Its a 2007 1.8 sri.

They didnt even bat an eyelid at the fact it is a taxi.

Seen threads advising 2 to 3 sets of rears to one set of fronts, thats not right.

Best bet is to whip the wheels off and have a quick look
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Default brakes

As above mate get the wheel off.

Sounds like the pads are goosed, discs will be now as well.

Sounds a bit anal but get the wheels of every six months or so (more if you do a high milage) and check pad wear.

You could have saved cash on discs if you spotted it sooner.
