Ecu problem HELP

I had my car booked in at brammels today for the 2nd time with the same problem ive had for months and that is my emission light is on and it feels sluggish. The past month it has got worse and that is when i start it up it really trys to die but seems like it fights it, when its doing this the engine makes some popping sounds which i think maybe its missing. Today was the 2nd time in and they found the same codes which are the maf and the fuel trim running rich but they arnt present so they tell me to be patient and if it comes back on bring it back. Well its hard to stay patient when you keep handing over £65 a time for them to smile and say they cant find anything wrong. What the chap did say today was if it does come on im looking probably at a faulty Ecu which i know is expensive, i have the z18xe on a 53 plate only done 41000 miles and has only just turned 4 years old this jan as it was registered in 2004. I am really dissapointed in vauxhall as they dont seem to be very reliable and just costing me bags of cash that im considering getting me a mondeo as i know these are reliable. i know this is a swear word on here but i cant afford to keep splashing the cash out on my lovely vec. Can anyone help me i dont want to get rid of this car it starting to take shape now i have the snowflakes can i get a brand new ecu on the cheap and get it done elsewhere or would a remap cure it please help help help help
