Somebody mentioned already, I'd also just get another graphics card.
15 quid or so is all it would cost to sort it out, and it's a doddle to put it in. Disable the onboard graphics, and away to go.
Easier than plugging a Caterman box in.

This is not getting easy as there are different motherboards with this model, can you open up the case and take a picture of the motherboard so I can see if it has an AGP port? It seems that you may not have a an AGP port which is going to make upgrading your graphics card a bit harder tho not impossible.

Im certain it does have an AGP slot in it, and I think I have plugged in a Firewire card into that. At work at the mo, so cant gte image yet. Does it sound like compatibility rather than monitor fault?

That would be a PCI slot as AGP slot will only take a graphics card.

PCI slots are white in colour and a AGP slot is shorter and brown in colour. I have a feeling that yours does not have an AGP slot.

Best thing to do is give me a call when you get home tonight and I will guide you through something to help you out. Will PM my number

Could help but only if your graphics card supports the resulations needed by the graphics card. I can do all of that later via the internet so dont worry if you did not understand it all! It could be your onboard graphics card needs updating as well, but we can sort it

Just wanted to say a big thank you to "merikiito" for his help in trying to sort out the monitor issue. I owe you a !

Anyhow, since trying it on my PC and 2 laptops, the smae problem remained, so I brought it to work with me today where we actually have PC's with widescreen monitors attached to them and thought it would be the ultimate test.

And guess what.....the thing works perfect.

So it turns out that my PC and the laptops are not Widescreen TFT compatible. Talk about .

It was almost getting to this: .

Anyhow, I have decided to keep it and see if I can sell it on and have since ordered me a 19" NON-Widescreen TFT.

    Lets see what that does!

So if anyone is interested, I have a smart Dell 19" TFT Widescreen for sale. I will accept cost plus a drink and postage (or collection). If interested, PM me!

    Thanks anyway guys....
