    Angry Hand Brake Recall

My Car Was Booked In With Vauxhall Cardiff For The Handbrake Spring To Be Replaced Due To The Recall For Saturday 19th July.had A Phone Call Today Off Vauxhall Cancelling The Job As Apparently They Arent Sure If The Fix Will Solve The Problem 100% So Nationally Vauxhall Are Looking In To The Problem More Closely.
As You Can Imagine,i Wasnt Too Happy About This As My Handbrake Has Released Itself On Several Occassions.what Annoys The Most Is That They Arent Sure What The Fix Is For Sure Yet,but They Wanted Me To Book The Car In With Them To Investigate My Problem But I Would Have To Pay For It!!!

It Seems To Me That I Need To Actually Have A Bump Caused By The Handbrake Slipping Before They Might Actually Do Something.
Has Anybody Else Been Treated Like This?

Arnold Clark VX dealership were just about ready to start a rolling program contacting all current owners
Some owners had the modification carried out in May but most returned reporting that the fault was still present, as a result Arnold Clark suspended the recall awaiting confirmation from VX
I had mine booked in for the first week of June, but was advised the recall had been suspended

Interesting, my SXi was done today, it was booked in for a Tech2 session to have my electric windows enabled and they just did it without asking/telling me.

Mind you I haven't had any problems with the handbrakes on either of mine (yet) so knowing my luck the replacement spring will probably cause the problem

Mine is "supposed" to be having its done along with the rear axle hubs next week
I'm going to mark the parts before I put the car in, just to make sure they actually do it

Strange. My handbrake recall was done a while back, and I noticed it was holding more firmly than before, and certainly feels more 'substantial', although to be fair I have never had a problem with it before or after the recall work was done.

It just seems ridiculous to me that the recall work cannot be done to the same standard everywhere. And if dealers have different views on how to do it, or even if it's worth doing.......words fail me.

The solution is written all over this page peoples - have the work done by someone OTHER than Arnold Clark. If Arnie's grease monkeys don't know how to do the modification and so previous customers are coming back saying it hasn't worked, use someone else.
