Vehicle : Insignia CDTi SRi NAV 160

    Trim : SRi

    Engine : A20DTH

    Year : 2009

    Mileage : 88000

    Default Is the 1.9cdti 150ps or 150bhp????

    So is the 1.9cdti 150ps or 150bhp?

The reason I ask is that I had a rolling road done at Jamsport prior to my remap working correctly and they got 155bhp on the rollers. Considering I had a new exhaust fitted from MIJ with the cat removed and a K and N panel filter the extra 5 was not too bad but if the 1.9cdti is 150ps then its a bit better because:

150 ps = 147 bhp so therefore my first lot of mods have given me an extra 8 bhp

    155 bhp = 157 ps

    So whats the answer guys?

    Vauxhall quote 150PS.
But, all cars are different - and these turbodiesels are known to vary in power output.
There was one from this forum, completely standard 165 bhp. Accurate test too, as it was last years rolling road day with many members present.

As above, it's 150PS. I wouldn't get too drawn into what power gain you've had due to a certain mod(s), not when you're talking about 8bhp. Your car could differ by that amount on a different day simply down to the atmospheric conditions.

Also, unless you had a RR session before you did the mods, you won't know what it was kicking out as bog standard. For all you know the mods could've dropped the power! A bog standard 190 150 is more than likely to be kicking out a bit more than 150bhp.

Also, as different RRs vary so much, unless you have before and afters done at the same RR (and even then they can vary) it'll be very difficult to get any 'accurate' figures.

Its difficult to prove anything when it comes down to BHP then. Seems even pointless trying as there will always be someone who doubts the fiqures for whatever reason. I suppose the issue arises when you try and recommend a mod to someone saying it gave 8 bhp then you may as well not bother. We get claims from Exhaust and air filter companies claiming there product will give an extra "x" amount of BHP but we can never prove them wrong then or right so really I suppose they can print anything.

Ah well I suppose if we feel it is driving better then thats all that counts, thanks for the input guys

Good that you've got a figure before the remap for comparision, though.
Many people forget to do that, which makes figures pretty useless when looking at relatively small gains.
Should be looking at around 185-190 bhp when remap is done.
