Default Who carries a Donor Card?

Following on from ed taylors' thread about giving blood HERE, how many of us carry a Donor Card and what's everyone's thoughts on this? Some people won't donate for religious reasons etc, which I fully understand. Discuss!

Personally, I've had a Donor Card in my wallet for ages now. I got it when I applied for a new driving license years ago. Let's face it you won't be needing any vital organs once you have expired, so someone else can have some use from them.

Yep - me too. Carried one since I was a teenager. They can have whatever is useful as I won't be needing them!

I have carried one for years. They can take what every they want but I don't think anyone would want my eyes, as I am as blind as a bat. (But only with my glasses off, before anyone says anything)

I don,t carry a card, as I don,t bother with a wallet,But when I pass on to the next level they can take out any bits they need, I will not need them any longer,if they can save someone with any donor parts then in one way I will have done some good.

AFAIK . Unfortunalty in this country Been a donor is an 'Opt In' system, i.e. you have to have the donor card or they can't take the organs. In other countries I believe it is an Opt Out system, ie, they will use your organs if they need to unless you request not to. Far better idea. I have seen to many people die because of the shortage of donors, so when they do eventually get to have a transplant they are to ill to pull through the operation.

Not having a go, but unless you do have a card they can't take what they need.
