    Default I'm Confused

    Hi Guys,

Sorry to start another Tuning Box thread but im confused with what exactly is out there for the CDTi 150 with regards to tuning boxes, is it possible for someone in the know to put a list of them on the forum with some brief details, ie price, where to get them, whether they are removable or fixed in and the typical power you can expect when fitted. This i know will help me and hopefully help others as i can't be the only one on site that is confused.

    Cheers

There are now a number of boxes available m8. without any other mods, airfilter, exhaust etc, they will give around the 185-190bhp mark.
with airfilter and exhaust you are looking at mid 190's.

The most popular are the Powerclick (red or green), the CR1, and the Tunit. there are some German ones and also Dragon Tuning. I would go for a "plug in" type as they are easier to remove, but i have fitted both to mine and the "wired-in" version only takes a couple of minutes to remove once fitted.

I have tried both the CR1 and the Powerclick Red. My personal preference is the Powerclick as it delivers the power in a slightly different way to the CR1. The Powerclick delivery is much smoother than the CR1. In testing i have done using routes and markers i have used for years, the CR1 feels quicker due to the sudden "kick" when it cuts in but is not actually borne out on the clock.
There are several places that you can buy them from, E-bay have a wide choice including the "foreign" ones. Safest bet is to talk to either Andrew (Abyss), Mike at Diagnostix or Adam at Tunit. Prices start from approx £140 but again, speak to the suppliers.

There have been a number of threads on this subject and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some prefer 1 over another. I only have experience of the 2 mentioned. There is also the remapping route but that can be traced on the ECU if not removed before it has to go to the dealers for any reason.

Best advice i can give, read the threads, speak to the suppliers, check prices then go for it........hope it helps.

As above mate, but also try one of the boxes on your car at meets. You can try mine if you wish.

I'll be at the North West Regional Meeting - HERE

Also, at the Vectra-Sport meeting in Pudsey - HERE

Or, (I work in Bradford) so if you're not too far away you could pop round to where I work?
