If so then read on.
Basically, i (HAD) a rattle at around 2500rpm and as the car was in the stealers getting it's first service i asked them to check it.
I said rev the car to 2500rpm and you'll hear what i'm talking about.
So, the car had the service and they rang me to say it was ready for collection.
Anyway when i arrived at the garage, they charged me £170 for the service and when i enquired about the reported noise, they said no fault found Sir
So i said, no there is a problem. The (Cough) mechanic told me he had driven the car over all sorts of bumps and roads, but could not hear the noise i reported.
So i said WTF as i had asked them to sit in the car, rev it to 2500rpm and listen when i dropped the car off.
The (Cough again) mechanic told me he had tried that too, but heard nothing. So i said follow me; sat in the car and revved it to 2500rpm and rattle, rattle, rattle and said to the mechanic, so whats that then? Mice?
He agreed and they took it off to put on the ramp.
He came back and said, yes it's a known issue that the flexi pipe from the exhaust manifold vibrates, so they (VX - i assume) have recommended putting a hose clip around it - which they have done.
To end the story - if you have similar noises, it may be worth while trying this fix as it seems to have worked on mine.
