Default Whirring noise when ignition switched off

Yet another question for you all; after a run I've noticed this sort of whirring noise when I switch engine off noise diminishes to nothing within a few seconds, almost sounds like some sort of fan winding down if you know what I mean, it's not the air-con as this is switched off any ideas? don't suspect there's a fault, just me being inquisitive as usual!

Have you looked to see if its the engines cooling fans that could be on when you switch off? Pop the bonnet and get someone else to switch it off. Easiest way to eliminate that one.

Could it be the turbo shutting down ? I can hear that on my car, when the engine is switched off..

Sounds similar to the cooling fan on mine. Does yours always happen? Mine only happens if the fan in running at the time!

try and turn the interior fan off before you shut down, my fan had worn bearings making a weird sound, thankfully it was replaced under warranty.

    worth a try.

It will be the ventilation servos. When you turn off the engine they close - the ones behind the dash. That's the noise you'll be hearing.

Ah that makes sense mate cheers, I take it that happens whether the air-con or not is on?
Also notice, the exhaust sounds a bit meaty if i pull away quickly with slightly higher revs than normal, exhaust i know isn't blowing already checked that, probably normal i suspect as the car is new to me , only had it since saturday and today is the second time driving it!!
