Brake help needed

hI,

Before I start I am new to this site, and use my 2007 Vectra 1.8 SRI as a taxi, yes a taxi lol.

Just about to replace the rear discs and pads and have a small question. Does anyone no what size of rear discs I have on this model? Also..... do you need to disconect the brake pipe from the caliper to remove the disc? You did on my 2001 vectra b 2.2 sri.

Would anyone no where I could get a passanger side rear wheel arch liner?

Also..... Could anyone tell me how much a genuine set or rear pads would cost?

hi
not to sure but mine a pre-facelift but should be the same.
i didn't need to disconnect brake pipe, but the calliper will need to be held
somehow as not to let just hang thier.
you will also need a brake rewind tool for the rear and some torx bits and a long handle bar to undo the the torx bolts as thier are very tight and thread locked
as for the size just go to your local vauxhall dealer and ask them for the disc and pads (about £70 i think)
try a local scrappy for the wheel arch cover or vauxhall again.

Should i be needing to change the rear pads at 8000 miles? Discs are scored as well.

Its a 2007 sri not even a year old yet.

i changed my rear discs at 50,000
the rear dont get much use and 8,000 seems abit to soon but you can always go down to vauxhall and get them to check them out for you.

Had the car at vauxhall today, tech guy advised it will be a sticky caliper, however........he said if it was dirt or dust that caused the sticky caliper I would responsable?????????

Dont understand that, the caliper is right next to the road of course its going to get dirty?

Car goes in on wednesday, anyone give me some ammo incase they blame dirt?

unless you have the car in 2 foot of mud everyday then its their prob , the caliper is faulty thats why its sticking , dont be fobbed off wi them it is under warranty therefore its VX's prob !!!!

- and you'll have 278mm discs on the rear. Vx do a disc/pad kit which costs £60 odd + VAT.

As already said, definitely no need to disconnect the brake pipe and you'll need a brake rewind tool.
