    Default A right shocker!

My car might need new rear shocks - and if it does I need some advice.

I've read on here that Bilstein shocks are as cheap ax Vxl's own and better quality, but which ones would I need and should I replace front at the same time?

And what sort of cost am I looking at to get 2 fitted or all 4? Cheer in advance chaps.

I replaced my own rear shocks, fitted Bilstein B4's from Euro Car Parts (cheapest place), shocks cost about £68 for the pair. Had to by a set of female torx sockets to do the job which cost another £25, but now i've got em for future jobs. Vxl wanted £253 to replace the rears so all in all saved myself plenty of pennies.

    Right.

The Bilstein B4 dampers are the direct OE replacement parts, and they're listed for ALL models, whether they have normal or sports suspension. I assume this must be because the dampers are good enough to cope with the shorter springs, and several members have B4's fitted with Eibach springs with absolutely no problems. As above, EuroCarParts seem to be the cheapest and they come in at around £35 or £40 each.

The Bilstein B6 is their sports damper, and is designed for lowered suspension up to -40mm. They are more expensive though - about £150 each for the fronts and £90 each for the rears.

If you want to go lower than -40mm you need the B8... And god knows how much they cost!
