Default Buying a Vectra: Petrol or Diesel?

Bit of a dilemma here, im going to buy a used Vectra (new shape) but im stuck on a choice of 4 so would like some opinions on buying either of the 4 and why? or to avoid 1 or the other...so some pro's & cons and honest opinions would be alot of help.

    1. Vectra 2.2 Sri direct (grey/silver) - £6688 - (2005 reg) - 25k mileage

    2. Vectra 1.9tdci (120) Sri (silver) - £6988 - (2005 reg) - 52k mileage

    3. Vectra 1.8 Sri direct (silver) - £6995 - (2005 reg) - 24k mileage

    4. Vectra 1.9tdci (150) Sri (black) - £6988 - (2005 reg) - 57k mileage

So basically its either more milage on a diesel but save money (running costs) or less mileage on the petrols but more money running costs...im really stuck. help.

Well i owned a 2.2 sri and lets just say i was a little bit disappointed. The fuel economy is not actually too bad but the power and performance is not all that. Just bought an 07 1.9 cdti and am well happy it does around 600 miles to a tank and has a surprisingly high amount of umph. The 120 cdti is quite a bit underpowered compared to the 150 or so am told.

So the 57'000 on the clock for the 1.9tdci (150) shouldnt be a problem? im very inexperience when it comes to these things.

''I'd go for either number one or two. The 120 is less trouble then the 150 normally. IMO the 1.8 is a bit underpowered - but depends on what your after from it. The 2.2 is a lovely smooth engine and gives very similar mpg to the 1.8. So for the price and milage, 2.2 Direct imo, nice to drive, and very reliable engine.''

    doubled posted the other thread.sorry.

Ye I was thinking about leaving the 1.8 as the running costs are not too much of a difference when it comes to the 2.2. Well what im after is a full tank lasting long, a good start off from lights, a nice smooth powerful drive, and to avoid as many problems as possible.

I'd buy none of them and get a 3.0 V6 CDTi

I would say test drive both and see what you think. The diesel is slightly slower away from the lights but because there turbos pick up alot quicker after.

Ive test drove a 1.9tdci (150) which I liked, this had around 22k on the clock and was a 06 plate...so to be honest i would prefer the 1.9tdci (150) but the only thing that bothers me is the 57k on the clock...but because diesel engines last longer am i being silly worrying about 57k on a diesel?

So im planning on getting it over 5 years so i want to remain as trouble free as possible. diesel right choice for this?

Im only 20 at the moment and applied for a £10k vectra with arnold clark but they said i can only have finance up to £7000 so these 4 are the best of the bunch for under £7000 with Arnold Clark.
