Default washing car with washing liquid

Got up nice and early to spend the day washing the car but forgot I am out of car shampoo and being Sunday nowhere will be open to get some. I usually use the Maguires nxt stuff. I know using dish washing liquid is a no-no but I figured that because I am going to clay and polish and wax anyway it would be o.k, Still worried it actually dulls the paint of something though.

    What do ya think.

Step away from the vehicle. Nope absolutely not. Either find a garage that sells some, borrow some off a mate or neighbour or do it next week.

Most will contain salt which ain't good along with a few other nasties which belong on plates, not paint.

Good idea, the garage about a 30 second drive from me sells autoglym stuff. Why did I not think of that lol. Got the clay kit from halfords.

to further expand this question, what would give me the best results? I have at my disposal, clay kit, step 1,2&3 Maguires cleaner, polish and wax,Autoglym super resin polish and Maguires techwax.
I am thinking wash, clay, wash again then super resin polish and a coat of techwax?

Just back from the garage and all they had is some triplewax crap. would this put a crappy layer of wax on just before claying and make it not work as good? Anyone in N.Ireland want to have a detailing day lol

I'd go. Wash>Clay>Wash>Megs 1, 2, then the Tech wax. this week.

Next time substitute SRP for the Megs 1 and 2 and then decide which works best for you.

SRP has cleaners and fillers and will fill light swirl marks. It also contains abrasives which the Megs system doesn't. But Steps 1 and 2 will leave a great finish too and are are good introduction to using a multi step process if that's where you want to go.
