Yes,we mustn't forget the gearbox must we.

Tuning box only goes on occasionally (loom permanently connected with blanking plug in place normally).

Interested to see how you get on. I still have my CRD2 in the garage.

Interesting. I'd ditch my EGR if I knew how.

Both Diesel Dog and I have been looking into the pros and cons of blanking the EGR valve on the 3.0CDTi. Lots of pros and DD has blanked his already and is seeing benefits. I have previously blanked mine also but have re-instated as I have a few additional queries I want answers to.

Please see this additional thread for more info.

However, I think blanking the EGR on a 1.9CDTi throws up a fault code - as I understand it, something to do with MAP (on 1.9) vs MAF (on 3.0).

Re-checked condition of 'blanking plate' (actually a Pepsi Cola can,but bare in mind that Pepsi use thicker Ali than most).Looks just the same as when I first fitted it.Which comes as no surprise since the EGR outlet pipe is much cooler than before and Aliminium has a very high melting point (around 1200 degrees I think).

Even the Wife has noticed that the car pulls much better.Praise indeed.

Also, the temp guage never gets near the '90' mark any more!

Just need to try the tuning box now!

Excellent news, and even the wife noticed - thats quite something. Let us know how you get on with the tuning box.

I'm aiming to source some st/st plate and shim (hopefully on Thursday) so I may have a go at making another blanking plate over the w/end.
