    Default Elf and safety

Well Jan took monday off work so we could have SKY+ fitted.....

    OH no we're not...

Evidently cos of health and safety they are not allowed to work in our attic cos its not fully boarded

so hes coming bk tomorrow so i can do the work in the attic for him ...

so when done i will be asking for a refund on the install cost...

On another note.....they also have to drill holes in your outside wall to secure their ladders properly ????

hmmmmmmmm so how do they manage that then .........cos surely they must be on the ladder to drill the holes to make the ladder secure

or maybe they hire a cherry picker to drill the holes from .....then climb up the ladder and secure it

any ways i have a question for those with SKY+ .......does the box have a HDMI connections on the back......cos ive just got a new TOshiba 42" LCD tv and at the moment the picture is crap...as the old skybox hasn't got HDMI connections....has got scart obviously ....but the picture was better on my old TV

Drilling the wall to fix the ladders. I've never heard of so much b0ll0cks in all my life.
health and safety are a joke some time's.

I think the sky+ box dosen't have a HDMI connection unless you have susbscribed to HD and you get the new HD Sky+ box.
I'm not 100% on that like.

EDIT just checked my Sky+ and there is no HDMI connections on it.

This country is just going too far with these stupid H & S rules.

It's only the Sky HD boxes that have the HDMI sockets Soulman.

Never heard of that. Tying the ladder off or getting someone to foot it yes.

Unfortuniatly falls from height are one of the biggest killers still but that RA is a bit OTT.

Boarding out the loft I have heard of but that was with British Gas.

Had a similar issue with a bt phone line install recently. The bloke told me if it was any other engineer they would have walked away. I ended up holding the ladder for him, running cable and then repairing a damaged TV aerial cable.

    sympathy mate.

Give em a cold cup of tea.
Tell em it was hot when you made it, but by the time you had finished the risk assessment in giving it to them it must have gone cold.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    Risk assessment for brew making

Health & Safety is a serious hinder on work nowadays. Everyday in my job(Army) H&S becomes a PITA and slows down work(When I'm actually doing any) When I've had them out at mine it was ladder up and they climbed it, no drilling or any bo11ocks!
