Between 3 and 4 months ago (not sure of actual date) my wife caused slight damage to another vehicle whilst parking her car. She recognised that the vehicle belonged to someone whose son attends the same nursery as our son. My wife spoke to the driver of the other car soon after and she owned up and offered to pay for the damage. She gave her name and address and only the name of our insurance company, not any policy numbers etc. The lady thanked my wife for being honest and told my wife that she would rather not involve the insurance company and that my wife needn't worry as she "knew someone who could sort it all out". We never heard another thing about it until yesterday when a letter from an insurance company stating that my wifes vehicle was involved in an accident on 3 June and that we should hand the letter to our insurers and that would probably be the last we would hear of it. The other vehicle has already been repaired for several weeks (again not sure of exact date when repaired).
My thoughts are that something is not right here and I smell a rat due to the alleged date of the accident. We have drafted a letter to our insurers stating all the facts. My wifes car is still damaged slightly from the accident as we didn't bother claiming at the time due to the large excess we have on the policy (we also have limited NCB protection).
Any advice from any legal experts on the site would be greatly appreciated.
