check the fuel cut off hasnt been toggled somehow.... big red button near p/s shock tower. or crank sensor... also try a spare key and see if that works.
a very comon problem in the phase 2 106 was the immobiliser's transponder aerial, this sits around the ignition lock barrel under the covers and slides off and on easily, 1 plug to it and its use is to pick the signal up from the chip inside the keyfob. they go gaga from time to time, normally leaving the car sitting for a while will let you start it again. basically if it doesnt pick up a signal it thinks your stealing the car.

they are £15 ish new and can be fitted in seconds no pug tools needed and deffo no key coding etc so keep it away from dealerships, the like saying keys need programmed again etc at 45 quid a go.

mmmm guess who worked for pug lol ... and i had a 106, ****** good car tho i thrashed the life out of it for 5 years and i really couldnt fault it at all. very little was std but the wee thing handled like a dream.

EDIT - lol should have read the last post would have saved me 5 mins of typing a wasted reply lol
