Roof Rack/Bars

Does anybody know who makes the Vx roof carrier system?

I need to get a set of roof bars for my Vectra estate (which doesn't have side rails). The set on the Vx site look similar to a Thule set I've seen but I can't see whether they can be locked like the Thule ones can.

i know that thule make the roof racks for Ford, Toyota and Mazda, so I guess that they will probably make the VX one also

Thule do make them for the vectra, according to halfords but are special order only. Top end of the price range, ie virtually same price as Vauxhall ones, but look very good quality. And yes, the vauxhall ones have a very neat securing system, with levers that lock the feet in place. There is then a lockable cover plate which fits over which tidies it all up.

I run roof bars all the time...wouldn't stray from Thule at all....lasts ages and looks factory fit....plus spares are easily available.

Thanks for the replies. I've hit another couple of snags though.

Firstly, the width of most standard bars is around 120cm. I need to get slightly longer ones. I can specify them if I go for the Thule aftermarket kit but I think with the Vx kit you get what you're given.

Secondly, having looked at the mounting points in daylight, it turns out that they're located towards the front of the car and aren't that far apart. Fine for a roofbox but I was wanting to carry a lightweight dinghy (~8ft long).

Has anybody come across a solution?

Yet another question ...

The Thule bars all look like they secure to the roof fixing points via Allen bolts, but looking at the fixing point there's no threaded hole. How does it lock into place?
