    Default Rear wiper problem

    Hi,

My rear wiper is dicking around. When the screen is wet it operates ok, but when it is drier it often sticks, then a moment later moves etc until fully home. First time I noticed it the engine was not running, but it also does it with the engine running.

I think it is probably the motor, any comments welcome before I start removing the trim.

    Cheers,

No comments as to whether the first investigation should be the motor?

    ^^^^C'mon lads......
my 04' estate has a noisy rear motor too....makes a scratching sound, almost like it's got grit caught underneath the blade so I too suspect the motor?????

Looks like I will have to go it alone! I think I will have a look at the motor.

OK, had a look and got panel off but need a female torx drive to remove motor. Will have to take a trip to Halfords or quick surf on net for one of these.

Never had experience of rear motors packing up. So no useful input from me but at a guess if it works ok when wet.. ie less resistance for the motor to move the wiper, and sticks, stops starts when dry you could well be on the right track.. Let us know how you get on...

    Jobs a good'un!!

Took the motor off (you will need an E8 female torx drive), split the casing and cleaned it all out. The contacts (and disc) were quite dirty and took a fair bit of polishing to get them back to clean metal. The mating drive cogs on the wiper drive shaft were also dirty and did not run very smoothly at all.

In any case, once regreased and reassembled it works fine again.

    Cheers,
