Default Ways to connect an Ipod to a standard CD30...

    Hi,

As above really, is there any way, other than one of them FM transmittor thingys, to connect an Ipod to my stereo?

My car is an 06plate if that makes any difference. I just wondered if there are any 'secret' connections if I was to remove the stereo...

    Thanks

Yes, as per the HK device, you can use an FM modulator. Same idea as an FM transmitter, but instead of transmitting the FM it is hard wired in via the aerial lead. It is still an FM modulated signal so you need to have the radio tuned in to a suitable FM frequency, but you don't get interference like you do with a transmitter. The downside for an ipod is that you just get, say, 109.7 on your radio screen, not any ipod or track info.

The HK system is good, and dirt cheap from Amazon, but involves additional controls and screens. I have just modded mine for my ipod using an FM modulator and adapting the cup holder to take the ipod. So I control the ipod normally from its own controls, with it sitting in the cup holder. (and it charges the ipod).

Pictures will follow when I am at home. The cup holder is not pretty yet but it works. The whole lot was about £40-ish for the parts. More detail later.

You can always try www.soundlinx.co.uk who supply some very good adapters for o.e.m. headunits, such as aftermarket autochanger leads, to plug any stereo device using the cd changer input.

P.S. this isn't spam as I used to be an auto electrician before going to work for a local car manufacturer (the car in front is ........)
