    Default Limp Home Mode

Hi. I have an 04 2.2 DTI Signum. 4 weeks ago the spanner light came on. Vauxhall dealer diagnosed vacuum pipes perished which they replaced. Car OK for 2 weeks. Last week the exhaust emission warning light came on. My local (genuine) garage told me they can now do diagnostic check. Result is a code for faulty Air Flow Motor. New one fitted but warning light comes back on within few miles. There is some black smoke from the exhaust Needless to say always goes into limp home mode. My local garage checks codes several times and still it is coming up with Air Flow motor fault. Garage makes several calls and the conclusion is it may be a fault with the E G R. Local garage discusses with Vauxhall contact who inform him off the record that because of problems with E.G.R they no longer replace them but by-pass and re-set the E.C.U. Local garage has spent considerable time without further charge. They suggest get codes checked at Vauxhall. Before I take this action with probable high costs involved can anyone suggest a solution or have had similar problems.
    Thanks

    confused

Update following visit to Vauxhall dealer for diagnostic check. Check reveals:-
P0100 - Mass or volume airflow sensor
    P0400 - EGR flow excessive
They also check the intercooler to turbo pipe and find split which they replace. This they say could be bringing up the other fault codes. (I had the mass flow changed last week) When I pick the car up they tell me that following test drive the EGR code is still there. They say that they have checked that the EGR is working OK (How do they do this without taking it off the car) and have cleared the codes. I will not be going on any long journey's before I am confident that the EGR is ok
