    Smile New SRI owner

    Hello All!

Just bought myself a 2004 SRI 1.9 CDTI 150 hatch last week, until then I was a Volvo V70 owner, a decent motor but nowhere near as reliable as you'd expect and every bit as expensive to run as you might imagine! Here's hoping the Vx will be better!

Love the car so far, but I'm a bit disappointed Vx have been so stingy with the spec. Projects I've got planned so far for the interior: rear interior light (must have for strapping kiddie into baby seat), front map reading lights, sunglasses holder and (fingers crosses for wiring) heated seats.
I'm not bothered about performance upgrades, been there done that and been stiffed for the insurance!

I'm also after one of those new style wizzy flip keys I've seen on the latest Vx's, on back order apparently...

Quick question: does anybody elses Veccy understeer badly at low speed corners? I seem to lose front grip so easily, could be useless Dunlop tyres I suppose?

Anyway. good to meet you all - I can't say I'll post much as I seem to be spreading myself thinly over too many forums these days!
If I've got anything useful to say, I may pop up from time to time, or at least if I *think* I've got something useful to say!

    Greetings m8,

Mines on order, and I have similar plans for the interior. Let us know how you get on! Out of interest, how much is the flippy key? I was wondering of it could be used with the pre facelift models.

    Firstly to the club mate.

Can't say I have or ever heard of the understeering problem, mine seems like it's stuck to the road sometimes, so can't help you on that one, but no doubt someone will be around shortly that probably can.

How much have you been quoted for the flippy key? as I would quite like one of these but I have heard some quite high prices banded about as they need programming, also iirc the flippy key doesn't have the boot release button?
which would be a problem for me as I'm always using it.

    Cheers guys.

Vx parts dept quoted me £40 for the key plus £30 for the coding, who knows whether that's realistic because it sounds a little on the cheap side to me. I wonder if the key can be programmed the same as the old Vx ones could? i.e. turn in ignition, press lock then unlock buttons and hey presto?

I'm pretty sure that the flippy key *should* come with the boot release, Parts department dude seemed to think it was slightly different to the Astra/Zafira style ones...time will tell!

I'll keep you all informed how I get on with the mods - I'm already wetting myself at the thought of pulling the roof lining off and cutting a hole in it - especially since I'm such a clumsy sod!

Also forgot to mention that I've managed to turn to auto-locks on, nice feature to have. And I managed to find the the site that does the latest updated sat nav CDs too - http://www.navteq.com/updates/updates.html

The current 2005 disc is €170 (about £120 I suppose), but I'm holding out for a 2006 CD.

Ouch. Bit much for an Updated disc. can't imagine they sell to many of those. Strange really when TOMTOM5 is available for just £160/€250
