Angry It's raining and my wiper linkage just broke! Must be summer

    Hello,
I'm new to the site. Came here looking for advice on fixing the wiers on my 54 SRI. I see they are a common problem. Vauxhall want silly money for something that used to break the same way on the old vectra, seems they forgot to redesign that bit between B and C. They wont just sell the bottom link that collects all the crap and wears out. Cheepest scrap yard quote so far is £45. Not happy! I will have to have a go at the tie wrap fix until I come up with a better solution.

Site looks good, I've seen one vectra in my car park at work with the Vectra C logo. Will have to get some pics uploaded.

    Drew.

Yep, just tie wrap the top and bottom arm together, close to the joint. Dont over tighten as it will snap.

Hope you get it fixed soon.

BTW, if the dealer tells you that you need to change the motor as well because the design of it changed with the new linkage, and that the new linkage won't fit onto the old motor, they're talking rubbish. The new modified linkage will fit onto the old motor no sweat.

    Oh, and

Yep, common as muck this problem. My 2004 SRI was at Dealers last week to have a new linkage because the passenger one had come undone after 28 k miles. It cost total of £120 for them to supply and fit new linkage. Part was approx £70 plus VAT.

Thanks for all the advice, I had the job done in ten minutes and it's been well and truly tested the last couple of days, I had a decent tie wrap lying around so I have saved myself £75 for now. I cleaned and re greased the linkage so I'm hoping it will last, can't see why it shouldn't that end of the linkage doesn't move all that much.
