    Default CD70 question

Picking up a 2007 Vectra 1.9D CDTI 150 SRI 5DR with a CD70 NAV installed on wednesday, I didnt ask about the stereo in the car when i got it, and to be honest, the guy was unsure when i phoned up....

I am trying to find out, by default, do these units play MP3's?
I have seen various posts, and it looks like it does...
    But just wanted to check.

I was just going to burn some of my cd's over to MP3 CD's, but dont want to if there not going to play.

If they do, What bitrate and that do they play?
I keep a load on my CD's on my PC as MP3's for when i am working and there all in 192kbs.

    Cheers

Nice one, that’s a good start.
Was not too sure if there were variations of the same head unit that didn’t play mp3's.

Guess i will do a couple, one in good old 128kbs and try a 192kbs and see.

    Thanks.

Make sure you put the files in folders, as you can't search/browse by tags, just folders.

    no worries,

I used to have a vectra 1.9 with a aftermarket MP3 playin in the car, It worked on folders as well.
I just used to create a folder with the album name and artist, and drop the MP3's in there.

Another question..... Is there a Max folder/file name length ?

Do you know if they read ID2V3 tags, or is it just ID3V1?

    lol

Will have to rip some of my discs again for the nicer sounds
    Thanks for the info.

Nooooo,,,,, It means going up the loft. LOL I have mp3 players all over the place and media centers so dont use the CD's now days.

But like you said, be worth it, and now hard drive space is a lot better, space is not a issue

Id2 V3 tags are no problem either,by the way, use dbpower amp CD ripper/MP3 convertor for 320kpbs,and your tags will be taken care of at the same time
