    confused Replacing a steering wheel

Sorry if this has been covered but I have tried to search:

I have just got a new SRi steering wheel to replace the crappy Life one I have, I know how to change the steering wheel but am a bit hesitant about the air bag....

Is there a specific process (I assume battery off is a must)

Just thought I would check before I end up with a mini explosion in the car and a hefty bill.

    Cheers in advance

yes m8, disconnect the batt and on the side of the steering wheel /airbag you will see 2 small holes . so with a flat screw driver point it towards the middle and push the handel inwards so you release the clip inside and then do the same with the other side. once that has been done unclip the airbag wires. then with a torx socket undo the the bolt which will release the steering wheel

quarter turn of the steering wheel will reveal the holes. Flat blade screwdriver and wiggle. You are opening up two roller bars. Hold the airbag with other hand and pull towards you. Alternate the holes and it will come off. T50 TORX bit for the bolt.

argh, if I had known that bit I wouldn't have started, assumed my largest (t40) bit would be ok, obviously not......

Looks like a trip to the tool shop in the morning and start again tomorrow night.

Can I confirm that I jsut pull the end of the two (airbag) wires (where it goes into one) out?

Cheers for the help thus far, been invaluable. even been checking from phone while in car to make sure no new posts were up so I didn't make any mistakes! lol
