    Default 2.0T Economy

Drove from North Herts to Bluewater on Friday (A10, M25), managed 44 MPG, driving at 65-70. Quite pleased with that, given it's PETROL powered.

First person to say his/her diesel gives 600 MPG even with 2 cylinders tied behind its back blah blah blah gets deported to Zimbabwe. lol

Yes, the results you can get when you're mostly 'off boost' are remarkable. The trick is having the discipline to stay 'off boost'. I can get 50mpg on the flat at 35mph in 6th, but My God it's boring! LOL

I recently managed 35mph on a long run at a steady 75-80 which I was happy with. The 2.0T only guzzles petrol when its going round town or when you tell it to.

My best so far is 42-44 mpg at 70 over 400 miles. 44 at it's highest point and finished at 42 due to final road being a windy A road.

Jesus you petrol lot are always posting up your amazing mpg figures pity you have to 'pootle' around to get them . A 2.0T is acceptable, a 3.2 is un-ownable and now un-sellable.

One doesn't buy a 2.0T or a 3.2 for fuel economy. The point is merely being made that decent fuel economy is achievable without 'pootling about' as you put it...e.g. at a steady speed within the range of say 50-75mph on a motorway.

yep, i bought mine, not for the stunning MPG, but for the drive of it..before the diesel boys comdemn them, they really need to drive a properly sorted 3.2 as it was meant to be used.....

I've had a 1.9 150.. and i'm sorry but the 3.2 kicks it into the weeds..

    Here's my philosophy:

    1) I drive the 2.0T because I sometimes want decent power, and it's able to deliver that.

    2) Petrol prices keep increasing, but when I'm not in a hurry, driving economically helps counteract that - if I improve my economy by, say, 30%, then I can let fuel prices rise by 30% before I'm out of pocket.

    3) Driving economically is better for the environment, so if I'm not in a hurry, why not?

    4) Driving "normally" is boring - I used to drive fast all the time (which was fun), and the challenge would be to get everywhere as quick as possible. Replacing that challenge with the challenge of using as little fuel as possible keeps the journey entertaining. I'll add at this stage that I purposefully make it harder for myself by setting myself the condition that I mustn't hold anyone else up - i.e. no ambling along a single-lane-in-each-direction road at 20mph below the speed limit; I wouldn't like someone to hold me up in that way, so I don't do it to others.
