    Default Diesel Vs Petrol again..

Over the course of a year at current fuel prices, would a Petrol or Diesel work out cheaper to run??

Lets take a 2.2 Direct, and my 2.2DTi..

I am seriously considering going down the petrol car route at the moment, due to the ever spiraling costs of diesel..(The Saab is off the Menu due to the lack of value in the Vectra as PX)

Now my instant reaction says to me a Diesel will be cheaper, but when i actually stop and think about it i am not so sure.

    Whats everyone's opinions.

The change is based purely on fuel prices..

IMHO diesel is better on on MPG but costs more.... IMO there is a thought process that tells you diesel is better, but in reality, and with current prices, usin a modern petrol i doubt thres anything in it now!

Even when diesel was cheaper you had to be doing a lot of miles to make it really worth the extra, but now it's far beyond ridiculous. All depends on how many miles you'll be doing, what your driving styles like and I'm sure there's more to take into account.

I like to Drive my car's, not pussy foot about..

I dont do that mnay miles, only done 11000 this year, and a lot of that was because i was on day work at work, now i am back working away again it will be down to about 8000 a year, but i do lots of local short journey's.

I have just been looking on Autotrader at 3.2 GSi's...... (Get a Black, manual one, transfer my bits over and i am well away....But thats fuel economy out the window)
