    Default Deterring Cats

Has anyone come across a sure fire method of keeping cats out of your garden (apart from buying a dog)

Just recently I have been clearing cat mess from my back garden, actually off the grass, they seem to be leaving the pots alone now as the plants in them are quite big now. I think they are from the new home owners from the new housing estate built next to mine.

I have never been a big lover of cats and I do not see why I should have to do a poop patrol of my own garden before I let my 4 year old play on it.

Apologies to any cat owners but I feel I am a concerned parent first, animal lover second !!!

On a side note, can you be done for animal cruelty if you manage to corner a cat with a hose pipe, given that I am on my property and the cat is invading my space !!!!

    Cheers

Something with Citrus in it is supposed to deter them, but can't say for sure. Being a animal lover I love cats, but understand where your coming from mate. Ref getting done for cruelty I don't know, but wouldn't really say a hose is necessary, if mine are in the wrong a spray bottle does the job enough and with continued reinforcement it may set into the cats mind it shouldn't be there.

One of those hi frequency pir activated things did the trick for me. Cost about £20 I think. Our dog didn't scare them away, he did chase them but they kept comming back!
