I tend to let mine sit & Idle for 30 secs or so just to let the engine settle. Same when starting, I dont pull away till engines been running for a min or so. But thats just me...lol

its to do with the turbo mainly, you need to let the turbo stop spinning. if you turn the engine off without settling the turbo then it will continue spinning without oil. can be a problem later in life, it also relates to other moving parts in the car but the turbo is the main concern. Starting off you just need to let the engine settle from turning on, let the revs drop back to idle then your fine

I'm glad I don't live next door to you if you do that every morning in a diesel

Regards to the turbo it will only have effects if you've been driving it hard and then you switch it off straight away as this is how to kill a turbo quickly, but if it's just easy driving there wont be any major effects. Personally I let it run for about 30 secs if I'm driving normally for reassurance and if I'm driving it spiritidly(is that even a word) I'll let it spool down while driving to let it all settle then let it idle for a minute or two

Only a problem with engines fitted with a turbo. When stating do not over rev the engine, but no need to sit and let it idle.
When stopping it is recommended you let the turbo spool down (stop spinning) before switching the engine off, this is only usually necessary when the car has beeen driven hard then stopped quickly. Normal sane driving as you arrive home it should not be required.
    3.2 v6 Signum and loving it 😁
