Default Facelift SRI versus pre-facelift SXi

Had a couple of days in my facelift SRi now and I noticed some differences between this and my old SXi.

Features missing in the new facelift SRi
    - No Auto-Dimming Mirror, rain sensor or ambient lighting
    - No coin box under the headlight switch (on right hand side of steering wheel)
    - No boot release button under side window buttons on drivers side
    - No central-door lock button or boot release button on passenger side
    - No Glovebox lock (I'm going to miss this feature)
    - No storage lid box in rear center arm rest
    - No place in boot for my warning triangle (I used to have a 4 door saloon and there was a place in the boot lid for it)
    - No gas strut to keep my bonnet open (I have to use a metal pole, like in the old days)

Features gained in the new facelift SRi (That I like or have noticed)
    - Much heavier tint on the windows (Looks cool)
    - Love the facelift design
    - More sporty leather steering wheel
    - Satellite Navigation screen with onboard 'everything' computer is ace gadget
    - Improved interior dashboard design (looks higher class/luxury)
    - Diesel Performance and economy
    - New (VW/Audi) designed folding ignition key
    - improved stereo & MP3 player
    - Hasnt got that really annoying 3 flash indicator 'confusion'
    - 6 Speed Gearbox

Over all then, I'm really pleased (much better than the New VW Passat I test drove, IMHO)...

Have they changed the indicators then, didn`t realise that.

The bonnet was the thing I noticed with Highland G`s signum facelift. It is a huge step backwards to replace the dampers with a pole ?

Would like the key as well, they are funky ...

It still works the same way, as you can 'flick' the indicator to get your 3 flashes, but if you then decide to 'cancel' the indication mid way through its 3 flashes, it just cancels. Whereas the 'old' system used to flash the other direction for another 3 flashes etc....

I wonder if this is a software change that can easily be carried out on the pre-facelift models?

I still remember my first go at using those Bl***y indicators of a run from Manchester to Bristol in a hire car . By Birmingham I'd given up!. I've had a couple of vectras from AVIS on 05 and 55 plates this year. They seamed to have the modified indicators.

Before I ordered my SRI (Three weeks to go! ), I tested an old-style SRI (05 plate) and a facelift "Life". Personally couldn't spot much difference except the SRI had F-Fogs. I'm sure the controls were identical (boot release etc).

I didn't know there was a lock option for the glove box.
Is it something that can be fitted?

Mine has a lock, I am sure you could just order up a locking catch for it ? Though if someone is trying to open it sometimes the value of the contents aren`t worth a wrecked dashboard as they will still get it open . Just do a few hundred quids worth of damage in the process !!

If i want to cancel the indicators i just press the stalk in the same direction again and it cancels. ('54 SRi.)
