    Wink Spanner light???

I have posted already on this but think my description was pants, so i'll try again, read on...

Car is a Vectra SRi 2.2DTi '03 year.

Last Monday, my wife was driving the car on the M4 from Neath to Swansea, when climbing uphill the car/spanner light came on and it went into limp mode. She said no excessive smoke or anything like that, just no power. She got it home and parked and left for me!! When I got in it and started it, no light. Took it for a drive down a local bypass, up a couple of steep hills and it pulled like a train, all the power had returned, seemingly back to normal. However since then i've noticed that fuel consumption is quite poor, not even 30mpg around town, shocking for a diesel!!

I've been told by a mechanic that it is probably the EGR playing up, but anyone had anything similar???

    Wink

Will do.. i'm going to try cleaning out the EGR and then use some injector cleaner to see if that helps out the poor fuel consumption.

Good to hear from another geordie!!!!

Have a look at this link http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread.php?t=40764&page=2. I had a similar fault and discovered it was the rubber sleeving had split over the vacuum pipes. Exactly the same as shown in the photo.

    Wink

Checked all hoses and connections and everything appears fine, cannot find any cracks or splits although the intercooler hoses feel a bit soft. I am going to clean the EGR valve out, but does anybody know what size the torx bolt is E10, E12 etc...

Right, I have filled the tank, used some Redex injector cleaner and decoked the EGR valve...... result!!!! The fuel consumption is up to 36/37mpg from 28/29 mpg massive improvement!!!!
