Thumbs up Considering a Vectra GSI 3.2 purchase...

I'm looking at getting a Vectra, likely to be the GSI 3.2 with an LPG conversion.

It's my first Vectra/Vauxhall purchase so I'm really looking for some advice on what to look out for and what's common problems with em.

I've been a Ford driver for years, currently driving a '57 Focus Ghia and a MK3 Mondeo Ghia X, I'm leaving my company so the Focus is going back to them and the Mondeo is my Girlfriends car (well I bought it for her to use and we need 2 cars).

The Mondeo ended up costing me a good 500 quid more because I didn't do any research on the car and didn't pick up on the common faults at the time of purchase.

So before I hand over some more cash for a nice gsi I'd like to be aware of the things that'll burn a hole in my pocket... Rather leave that for the mods and new wheels.

    Thanks in advance!

I am pleased with my motor. If you don,t mind the 22/23mpg that I get out of mine around town thenyou should be pleased with a GSI. Check out what it will cost to insure it too.

I seem to miss the rush hour traffic so it keeps the MPG a bit higher. I did notice it go down quite a bit when stuck in the traffic getting into PVS this year. Hard driving will soon empty the tank, in fact you can empty a full tank in 100 miles if you drive it hard enough.

That would have to be some super hard driving, i have got 180 miles out of tank when driven vigourously.

To be honest I'm not really that bothered about the low mpg as LPG is fairly cheap around here, and it doesn't sound 'that low', my DIESEL 1.6 Ford Ghia from the company is getting approximately 28mpg and that's mostly motorway driving... I don't give cars an easy life when driving so I don't expect to find any savings on fuel

Other than the mpg is there anything else thats worth mentioning? Any thing likely to go wrong at certain miles? Or does the car need some work to make it a real drive? What's the bhp on them once chipped etc? 208bhp on a 3.2 seems a little lazy?

First thing I fell in love with was the look of it, one of my considerations was a 300 but after driving the hemi one I was very disapointed! And really didn't feel it was worth the markets value at the moment... The vectra is very well priced and has a great look sort of like the 300.

Only had mine three months but i love it to bits. They could so with some 19" snowflakes to set the car off. Mine drives well enough as it is, it likes fast A roads and but just dont expect a B road blaster as it struggles down them.

Struggles down them? Handling or lower gear performance?

I think Vx stated that the GSi was more of a grand tourer, cruiser type car, rather than an out and out performance car. If you want that, you'll have to go for a VXR
