2.2 Service

Hi all, my car is due a service...Thinking of doing it myself. just got a few questions about things i`m unsure about. i usually get a friend to service my cars but him and the mrs have fell out and he lives 60 miles away now so i`m going to attempt it myself.

first thing is what oil should i use, its an o3 2.2 sri with 62000
what spark plugs should i use?
is there any specialst tools i need other than a socket set + allen keys?

basically im going to do the oil, plugs, oil filter, air filter + pollen filter, or is there anything else i`m missing out?

since joining this site i want to do everything to my car myself lol

Get the Haynes car manual if you want to do it yourself and your'e not a mechanice...well worth it.

yeah read this one about the ENGINE FLUSH AND OIL CHANGE, full service one would be good.

Spark plugs are easy, remove the coil pack, think it's four 10mm bolts to get access

Talking about servicing, mine is due it's first service, in fact it's overdue as we have been to Austria.

Does anyone know how much VX stealers charge for an 18,000 mile service and what do they do on the service?

I read in the handbook that if you don't have it serviced it could invalidate the warranty, also it has "Insp" in the trip everytime I switch on or off.

All info gratefully received.

It's going to vary between dealers, but around £150 plus anything else that needs doing.

The insp just means it's time for a service.

You don't get much more than an oil and filter change.

Thanks for that, but do you know what you actually get for £150, is it just an oil and filter change and checking levels etc?, if so it's worth about £40.

PS. I suppose they have to Tech2 it to cancel the Insp?
