What has happened to your key. Have you tried putting the key in the ignition, turn it on so the ignition lights are on, but don,t start it. Press either the open or close button, if the door buttonds pop up and down then it has re-set the key. They do go out of "phase" from time to time. If that does not work it might be a trip to the dealer, worth a try first though.
its the spare key the battery just died as it was in a drawer in the house and you only have like 30 seconds to replace the battery before the key locks.
my original key is still working but i like to have a working spare just in case.
Did try that method you are talking about Ed but it was to late
It says the following in my 2007 handbook.
After a battery change, unlock door with key in lock, see page 69. Inserting the key into the lock synchronises the radio remote control.
Granted earlier C/L systems needed to have the key put in the ignition and fob buttons pressing.
That is worth a try. I did not know they had changed "things" on newer models. I find it hard to belive that if you remove or let the battery go flat, you would need to go to a VX dealer to get the key re-programed, they would make even a bigger fortune than they do as it is.
cheers for the other tip but no luck
was in with my mates from VX today and they said its looking like a re-programme
I was in my dealer last week asking the same £35+vat
Hi, i hopefully have a simliar problem with my key.
today as i went out to my car i pressed the fob twice to open all doors but only the drivers side opened. same thing with the spare.
i then treid to start the engine but it wont turn over, then the alarm went off....not knowing what to do i disconnected the battery and then the horn started going!
do you think a new 'key code' could work??
Thanks
