Part number help required

Went into the stealers today to order up SRi back boxes and tail pipes and rear bumper skirt for my car. Basically it has twin exhaust but they're behind the bumper facing down and I want to extend them out like the SRi.

So I go in and they guy behind the parts counter is about as helpful as a Mugabi campaigner. I tell him what I'm after and he just looks at me kind of dumb, then asks me if I have part numbers. I tell him I don't. He taps away on his pc for a minute or two. Then wanders off and I hear him talking to someone else, then he asks me again what exactly it is I want. By then I'm getting annoyed. So I get a catalogue and show him a picture. He still cant fix it. I tell him to forget it and walk out questioning his parentage.

Can anyone help?

Well matey your going to have to get an SRi rear bumper as the insert wont fit your bumper as its totally different..

I had the same on mine when i got it but now have all the vxr bits on it..

Ah right. That's handy to know, thanks. See no one there can help you with this sort of priceless info. So I definately need the entire rear bumper not just the little strip at the bottom?

you can get the sri boxes and pipes without having the sri rear bumper, just cut the rear valance like a lot of other's have done already, or go and check out a local exhaust specialist and get them to weld some custom tip's on and do the cutting, lot less than buying a bumper and rear boxes me think's

Hey Ditch. Thanks. How much would just having tips put on the existing exhaust set me back plus the fitting.welding on and cutting etc? Does it look right? Has anyone got any pics of this after it's done? Anything that saves money I like the idea of

Also any tips on where to go to get this done would be much appreciated? Any national companies that do this sort of thing?

have a look in the gallery to see what peep's have done, i know there are a few, blue rob for deffo

it all depend's on what type and style of tail pipe in the end so consider this into the cost ..i would say around £120.00 ish

pro-flow, powerflow agent's, there must be some one local to you matey

No mate you have a picture of mine when i picked it up from the garage

I know that pmw123 purchased the vxr rear skirt and the insert and bonded them onto the standard bumper, and just cut the original bumper for the exhaust pipes to show.
His car looks like this..

Yeap I did that surgery to my best...I`ll try to describe the process is you want to get your hands dirty

Here in Mexico was very hard to find some decent oval tips so I order them from a store is united states....if I remember right they do accept paypal and have international shipping....thou I think you wont have too much trouble finding a decent pair of tips in your country.
Each tip cost me around 40 US dollars plus shipping.
After I got the tips, the tricky part comes in...my beast is a 3.2 so it has twin exhaust from factory...don't know if that is the case on yours...the tricky part is that after the back boxes the pipes are very short and they face down...so I took the car to a shop where they had a welder and cut the existing ones right after the elbow...careful not to cut to much of the tips...if you do you will not have enough space or pipe where to solder the new ones.
Make sure to take off the plastic skirt out before all the cutting and welding!
Another thing is to be aware and be very careful to align both tips....making sure they will stand out evenly when you install that plastic skirt...if you weld them to far in (close to the back box) they will not show enough.
Now another tricky part is that after the tips are in place and welded take the plastic skirt and mount it...its tricky because now the tips will not let you mount the plastic all the way in....lay on the ground and mark on the inside of the plastic the location and shape of the new tips...dismount the plastic and cut out the marks...this process will be done back and forth several times...cutting little by little every time until you can mount that plastic skirt all the way in....and this time the tips will be touching the plastic...dismount again and cut more out evenly making sure you have a good gap around the tip...this do to the fact that the tips will move on all directions when the car is on the move and because they get hot...that way they will not ruin the plastic skirt. Job done.
Be patient on all the process there is no room for error when cutting the back box pipe and when cutting the plastic skirt.
