    confused Vectra GSI versus 1.9 150bhp?

    Hi All,

    I am looking to sell my 2003 GSI and considering getting a 1.9 SRI 150bhp oil burner. Has anyone compared the two (e.g. changed to a 1.9 from GSI), and how does the performance compare?

    I know I will have to miss out on all the extras of the GSI, but haven't the money to buy a VXR

    Your going to notice a big difference from your GSi.

    Standard GSi to a standard 1.9 150 - no contest. The GSi will wipe the floor with the 1.9.

    Remapped/boxed 1.9 will close the gap, and some in gear timings will be close, but the GSi will still have the legs by far.

    The 1.9 is no slouch, especially when boxed/mapped, but you won't have GSi performance.

    i've had the 1.9 and still have the GSi.. all i can say is that the GSi is far and above the better car than the standard 1.9... but against a boxed 150 it'll get closer...

    the only real benefit you will gain is a few more MPG, but with the price of DERV now the benefits are getting less...

    if you are after performance, stay in the GSi..i'll get a kicking from the CDTi boys over this, but as i say, i've had both.....and the poor reliability of the 1.9 was it's utter downfall...the 3.2 is a bombproof engine, the 1.9 is a chocolate one..

    Although I think the 1.9 cdti is a fabulous engine it's not on the same planet as the 3.2. Only had a short go in Drinkys Gsi but that was enough to confirm that.

    Remapped it may be little closer.

    best compromise and the closest diesel to your GSI would be a 3.0 V6 CDTI

    yep, a mapped V6 CDti is about as close as an oiler will get ..

    Thou Drinky did blow Uncle Ian away on the autobahn in mine, but thats hardly fair as mine isn't standard...
