Default Stealers? locking Wheel nut issue

I purchased my car a while back from a non dealer garage and only recently noticed that the locking wheel nut was missing from the toolkit. I phoned the garage who have taken the stance that "it was in there when sold mate so tough" which is nice of them. I went into my local stealers today who said firstly...come back after 2pm as all out "technicians" are out and secondly that if they didnt have the master key on them it would cost £250 to drill the bolts out. £250???? So obviously im hoping that they have a master and also if not what other options do I have other than paying that amount to have them drilled!CheersDean

£250 to drill them out?!! They're taking the pi**!!

Firstly, have you still got the little card that is in the locking wheel nut box - the one that the locking wheel nut key is kept in. If so, on that is a number that you can give the dealer to get a new key. It'll cost you around £40 IIRC but at least you won't have somebody drilling away at your nuts (ooer missus! lol) and trying to fleece you for £250 for the 'privilege'!

If you don't have the card, there are plenty of other places that can remove them with ripper sockets etc. and won't charge you that ridiculous figure. You could even buy your own ripper sockets and a new set of locking wheel nuts for less then half that price?

My mate lost the locking nut socket for his Volvo a while ago and Kwik fit charged £25 to remove all the locking nuts. He obviously had to buy some more(with key socket) But £250 is taking the pee.
