    Default V6 CDTi MPG

Just seeing if hat I'm getting is sounding ok.

I've got a Signum V6 CDTi Auto, my normal route to work (Redditch to Warwick) is about 25miles on the M42/M40 with about 2-3 miles A roads, not stop start, but not quick.

On the Motorway, it's clear no traffic so CC is set to about 80mph.

I'm getting between 30 and 33mpg, and that's it. No more than that, even on a nice long motorway run, I'm only getting that.

I did have a problem with a split intercooler hose a while back and I'm wondering if it's had a knock on effect.

I have a manual Vectra 3.0cdti and I get around 40mpg and that is mainly day to day B roads and some A roads for 15 miles to and from work. On a run on the motorway I get about 43-45mpg - perhaps a bit more if I am gentle.

30 - 33mpg seems a bit low but I am not sure how much difference the auto makes but it does seem low even so. There are others on here who have auto 3.0cdti so they would be better placed to comment,

    Cheers,

The auto box does make a big difference. If you look at the official figures the auto ones are shocking. Approx 5mpg worse than the manual box

    Auto:
    Fuel Economy: Urban 25.7
    Fuel Economy: Extra Urban 48.7
    Fuel Economy: Combined 35.3

    Manual:
    Fuel Economy: Urban 28.5
    Fuel Economy: Extra Urban 53.3
    Fuel Economy: Combined 40.4

Still that does seem low, although if I drive mine over 70 the mpg drops right off, at 56ishmph it will do over 50 mpg
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

It is low and to be honest is a little dissapointing. I know that cruising at 80 (obvisouly on my own private motorway!) is going to drink a little more, but still, 35 is low and I don't even get that.

I went for a little drive last night, some quick and some steady driving. Did 150+ miles at about 45mpg. I do set the CC at 70mph on the tomtom while on the motorway Any faster than that and I can see the difference in a big way. Maybe try it for a while at 70mph and see what difference it makes.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Yeah, I will do, although, I'm late enough for work most days, going at 70 is just going to make me later!

....and don't even dare say leave earlier, that means getting up earlier!

ha ha, that's why I tend not to go over 80, which is 80 on the clock, so about 77, which you shouldn't get done for.

Stopped and ticketed??? Who by? They've replaced the Police by little grey boxes around here.
