    Default Cracked rear spring?

Had my veccy MOTd today and it failed due to a cracked rear spring! Has anyone known this to happen?
A couple of mechanic friends of mine have both said this usually happens through corrosion on older cars and shes only 4 years old!
The dealer blamed pot holes but Ive been driving for 18 years and never heard of this before!
What do you all think or am I being a bit naive?

What with that, 2 new tyres and the cost of the full service I'm now £800 lighter! Best diet Ive ever been on!!!!

Had the same thing when my Vec went in for it's first MOT. I had them replaced by Vxl (though they fitted the wrong ones initially ) but having read more about the problem on here, it seems that you can get Eibach springs for similar money.

I'm sure others have had this problem and can give better advice.

    2 tyres and a service for £800

I think you should go somewhere else next time. Rear springs are easy to fit DIY style.

    Ferkin hell!

    MOT £35 + 2 tyres £280 = £315...

a FULL set of Eibach springs is only £135, and you can have a full service at any independent for around £100 to £150.

I think yo've been ripped off to the tune of about £200 there m8
