What do peope think of the zimbabwe/mugabe regime and him being swarn in again etc...

Saw it on the bbc other day and he was blaming his countries problems on "10 downing street"...

Surely this is not a democratic country now, more of a dictatorship. if they had vast supply of oil or other reserves do you think the west would care etc...

    just a thought...

The bloke is a tryant imo. If his country had anything "worth while" like Iraq did with the oil, the worlds armys would already be in there with the murders and genocide going on.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

They've got plenty of neighbouring countries to help out, South Africa being the most prominent. No need for us to get involved in any more conflicts IMO, Iraq and Afgahn is enough to look forward to without another mess to get into.

when a loaf of bread costs Z$4.5 million, some one has ****ed up. This man has murdered, raped, tortured and beat people to rig a election so that he can rule his land for another 5 years. I hope he feels the justice of the hangman before he dies peacefully in his sleep.

How can a country vote for change when the only candidate was him and his party?

We, the west, have enough on right now. IMO it is up to the African Nations (possibly drawing on the combined power of the African Union) to 'resolve' the problem now. Sanctions will not work, they will only further effect a beleaguered population

Mugabe is a vicious dictator who should be removed from power....BUT there are many other countries with regimes just as bad, one has to wonder why the UK govt doesn't make as much fuss about them as well.

I'd rather we dint get involved with anything or foreign polocies whatsoever...

Let them do what they want to they own people and us look after "us" for a change, there enough crap in the uk to deal with without more money wasted on wars, it just shows tho. whats good for "oil rich" iraq is not the best or same course of action for "poor" zimbabwe (and others)...

And as for us getting involved for human rights issues etc and us in the more developed countries casting our eye of disaprovement. i just think a few hundered years ago what was our record like? yes we have changed, but at end of day. some of these countries, even china to an extent are like the teenagers of the world and the "developed" the oldies, we know best because we've been there done it... let them grow up and learn it all for themselves - the hard way...

What is worst about Mugabe its that he has presided over and condoned a dramatic increase in so-called 'black-on-black' violence. What he has done to his own people is unforgiveable IMO.

Not dissimilar to what Timo Umbeki (hope I've spelt that right) has done in South Africa, and Saddam Hussein did in Iraq. Tribalism at it's very worst.

T.U has sat on his hands and done nothing whilst Zimbabwe has disintegrated. SA has made a fortune over the years in sanctions-busting as it has been and still is the principal conduit for illicit trade with Zimbabwe.

It was well known that Western Business Interests were behind the release of Nelson Mandela, because of the vast mineral wealth in SA and other vested interests, which were key to increasing SA's trade and business links worldwide following the démise of Apartheid.
