    Default Gearbox Coolant contamination

    Dear All
    My Vectra registered Nov03 has recently been diagnosed with a "shot" gear box due to collant entering the gearbox and causing corrosion. Vauxhall dealership initially said this was a recall, then revised it to "re-work".

    I am claiming though my HP provider as under the Sales of Goods Act legislation they may be liable if I can prove that there was an inherent fault in the design of the gear box. Vauxhall dealership has verbally admitted it, and I have found lots of anecdotal evidence that this is the case.

    Anyone know how I may be able to demonstrate this more credibly - is there a Vauxhall reference or anything i can refer them to?

    PS: Vauxhall have offered 50%, but Trading Standards advise me that it is the Seller (ie the HP provider in this case) who are liable - not the Manufacturer.

    Not sure on the claim but good luck. I would imagine there was a "field remedy" for the re-work. IIRC it was some seals on the trans oil cooler in the rad I would imagine someone maybe along soon with some more help
