OK, heres my story.... with Telewest/Virgin Media....

Originally ordered 2MB broadband and got about 2MB which was fine.

Then I paid for 20MB broadband and only ever got about 10MB tops...

Then I got hacked off with it all... and asked them to drop it back to 2MB broadband, so I only pay £10 per month.... they agreed and changed my billing...

I just did a speed check and I'm still getting 7MB even though all my bills say I'm paying for 2MB.... go figure ?????? - and this 'downgrade' was done months ago...

I've got it and it's fandabidozy ... on average I get around 16Mb down speed and usually get full upload speed. When it's quite in the early hours of the morning I usually get the full 20Mb/s ... couldn't immagine going back to 2Mb/s It does however depend on where you live and how populated your local 'excahnge' is as to what sort of experience you'll get but it isn't distance sensitive like ADSL

I find the speedtest.net site to be a bit unreliable ... I use www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk and find it often to be quite accurate.
