    Right.

Second hand snowflakes will set you back best part of 1k. 19" VXR alloys just don't come up 2nd hand, and they cost around £1500 from the dealer. So that's your whole budget gone and a bit more.

    IMO...

Buy a set of Eibach springs from LMF @ £135, have them fitted at any garage you choose for around £100. Then have a look for some different alloys - you can get some very nice 18" with decent tyres for around the 1k mark, 19" will set you back nearer £1200 with tyres.

I may be wrong but I don't think 888 can do anything different wrt lowering, they only use Eibach springs anyway.

It looks in your pic like you've already got an SRi... is that right?

If so, you don't need to upgrade the shocks yet, just the springs. You'll probably find that the Eibach springs don't actually lower the car much more than it already is, but the handling will improve 100%. If you want it noticeably lower, go for something like PI -45mm springs, they seem to work very well on a lot of members' cars.

I'd personally only change the dampers if they're the original soft standard (ie non SRi) ones.

And as long as you have the alignment checked afterwards, you won't wear tyres out any quicker than anyone else.

I'm sure 888 are superb and clarly have a proven record, but I expect they charge you through the nose for what is essentially a very basic job.
